Dr. Peter West is a senior lecturer in the Communication Design undergraduate program. West's design practice is as an art director and design facilitator focusing on strategic communication and behavioural change. West is a Chief Investigator on the ARC Linkage Project Grant (2020 to 2024) Talking Country: Sharing Indigenous stories of place through mobile media. West’s research explores how non Indigenous people, design practitioners and the (Western) design discipline itself can respond to First Nations people and their sovereignty. West uses design and design prompts to engage discussion and support non-Indigenous people in knowing how to respond respectfully to First Nations knowledges. West applies these methods in his engagement with local government and private enterprise that require support in developing business practices which signal their readiness to engage with First Nations peoples.
