Studio Inquiry

Great Minds Think Alike explores collaborative design and design collectives.
It looks at the importance of knowing yourself and what drives you personally as a designer, and how once a designer feels confident in that knowledge, how we can we contribute and tap into the potential of other creative (or skilled people) to make magic happen through larger conceptual projects.
Engagement
In this studio, we will be exploring a range of research techniques and how they can complement each other. Beginning with Journaling, and moving into prototyping, individual and group annalysis techniques, collaborative frameworks and self-directed crafting/refinement techniques.

At the end, you should:
Know how to identify what interests you in work which moves you.
Know how you prefer to work with others for the best experience as well as output.
Have an interesting large scale project which goes beyond your skill set and taps into other peoples skills/abilities as well.
Communication of knowledge
The focus of the studio is understanding yourself as a designer - What moves you?! and how you can find others who share your interests/passions and collaborate in a range of different ways to create self-directed work you care about/your community needs. We will be doing a lot of collecting, analysing, prototyping and importantly...collaborating with each other.
Activities
Firstly, we will engage with our own personal interests (both design and "non" design related) understanding their impact on us in a clear manner which we can articulate and producing a journal/artefact which reflects this learning.

Secondly, based on our findings in our first project we will self-form collaborative groups which based on linking themes/interests/principles will create a self-directed project in any media/medium
Assessments
There are 3 assessment tasks for this studio, the briefs are made up of a range of milestone deliverables that are interconnected and build upon each other.
Brief 1 - SKO
Brief 2 - Me time
Brief 3 - Us time
